Romantic and baroque music: two treats on the menu
As part of the ClassiCahors festival, the most famous collection by the Pergolesi composer, the “Stabat Mater”, will be presented on Wednesday 29th July at 9 pm at the Sacré-Coeur church in Cahors.
This work of liturgical music is the most popular composition by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, and will be performed by Sonia Sempere, soprano, and Hélène Obadia, mezzo-soprano: Violins: Véronique Vermeeren and Olga Ducasse.Viola: Jean-François Salies.Cello: Cristelle Costes.Contino: Emmanuel Pélaprat.
Monday, August 3: at 7 p.m. in the church of the Sacré-Cœur, the Ensemble Double Expression, composed of musicians from the Orchestre de Paris, will honour the music of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.violin: Eiichi Chijiiwa.viola: Marie Poulanges.cello: Thomas Duran.harmononium: Emmanuel Pélaprat.piano: Jérôme Granjon.
The first part of the concert will be devoted to the 150th anniversary of the Third Republic, with works by Charles Gounod, Camille Saint-Saëns and composer Clémence de Granval.
“We’re going to find the sounds of that period at the beginning of the Third Republic, a time when the bourgeoisie, especially the women, held salons”.
To search for the original sounds, the pieces will be played on period instruments, with piano, harmonium, violin, viola and cello.
In the second part, after a buffet composed of regional products and prepared by the caterer of La Chartreuse, the public will be transported to Vienna with waltzes by Strauss and small masterpieces by Dvorák, the Czech composer.
Barrier gestures will of course be respected for the peace and quiet of all.
